SceneServer
SceneServer is a system that captures real-world environments using a large array of high resolution cameras and displays the scenes such that a viewer has the feeling or experience of actually being in the captured environment. SceneServer is comprised of three key elements:
1) Capture Engine: A front end scene capture product named CamArray will capture and store Billions of pixels per second continuously from an array of scores of high resolution imagers. The CamArray product enables the capture of live events, environments, training scenes and many other forms of content with enough information to deliver unsurpassed realism to the user. CamArray offers the highest continual pixel processing throughput in the world and can support external sensor and data inputs (e.g., LADAR, GPS, etc.).
2) Image Processing Engine: Intermediate processing that assimilates the captured data and creates seamless viewable datasets. WorldScape's Scalable Processing Platform is used to perform many processing tasks, including depth mapping, interpolation, dynamic range enhancement and "experience" (or .exp) file creation. Information can be re-stored complete with metadata.
3) Display Engine: Display Engine: A real-time system that displays the scene as a function of where a user's eyes are, at a rate of 30 frames per second per eye in front of a display device. The system allows the overlay of computer-generated information onto the otherwise real environment.
