History of WorldScape

WorldScape LLC was originally founded in 1995 by Mr. Peter Rogina to pursue immersive imaging, the ability to enable fully immersive, photo-realistic capture and playback of real-world environments. Also known as “telepresence”, the technical challenges were seemingly overwhelming at the time. It was clear that evolutionary developments would not satisfy the demanding requirements of such a system. Mr. Peter Rogina applied for and was later granted patents in the field and embarked upon realizing his vision by applying leading edge technologies to the various components what was dubbed the “SceneServer” system. With the origination of WorldScape LLC came the thematic tagline, “If a picture’s worth a thousand words, what’s reality worth?…”

Following early development work that included software and algorithm demonstrations and initial camera array hardware development, Mr. Rogina served successfully as President of a wavelet compression company and, as a consultant, the President of a massively parallel computer company. He then engaged full-time efforts into WorldScape in January 2000. By leveraging the acquired expertise and knowledge gained throughout his career, WorldScape Incorporated was formed and the Company was able to attract world-renowned technical experts and a solid Board of Directors. With as focus on immersive training and mission rehearsal, the Company began efforts to attract funding in the government market. Technical development accelerated and business development was well underway setting the stage for the Company’s first government contract with the Office of Naval Research (ONR).

Early image processing benchmarks led quickly to broader interest for the underlying technology for signal processing applications. Funding continued and WorldScape developed a core competence in radar processing. Now entering into the third contract with ONR, WorldScape has demonstrated the world’s fastest/lowest power radar processing benchmarks and is actively building scalable processing platforms [point to products page] based on leading massively parallel technology. With a core competence in optimizing applications for implementation on massively parallel hardware, WorldScape’s hardware and software teams are positioned to provide enabling technology into many government and commercial markets.
